Competition Rules

•           All climbs are sit-down start. Begin a problem by holding the starting hold and lowering yourself into a straight arm sitting position. If your bum does not touch the floor it is OK if you start as low as possible. No kneeling or stand starts unless stated on the score card.

•           The starting hold is the one with the numbered tag. It can be matched or held with one hand. Lower holds than the tagged one may be used as you like but not higher holds, until you begin the climb.

•           Pushing up on the floor with a foot, hand or bum is not allowed.

•           Aretes, corners and any other features of the wall, unless otherwise stated, are allowed.

•           There is a maximum of 10 points available per problem. Certain climbs allow you to claim 5 points for reaching half way (bonus holds).

•           To claim a bonus, hold it in control with one or two hands for at least 3 seconds.

•           Do not claim 15 points for the bonus and a top. It is assumed if a climb is topped then the bonus hold was reached.

•           A climb is completed when the last (highest) hold is reached. It must be matched for a minimum of 3 seconds in control.

•           Thumbs are not allowed in bolt holes. Certain holds have a rubber placed in the bolt hole to prevent this. Please do not push the rubbers into the hold.

•           There is no time or attempt limit. Problems may be tried as many times over as many sessions as desired.
